Attention Last.FM users: Please ask Last.FM to turn off their stations on Tuesday!

From forum post. "The US copyright royalty board decided that online radio must pay *per song* *per person*, not per broadcast as it was previously done. Now only license holders or really rich people will be able to have online radio stations, and it's going to kill internet radio in the US as we know it. What's even scarier is that if the station doesn't know where to pay royalties to, they must pay soundexchange. They're an organization financed by the RIAA which is an organization that many (including myself) think is killing the music industry. There's a bill going through/senate that could reverse that dangerous ruling and make sure internet radio pays the same royalties as terrestrial radio and by participating in the day of silence, Last.FM could raise a lot of awareness. Even if we don't go completely silent, perhaps a short PSA when you start a station or a link on the top of the page or something would be possible.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soundexchange
Find out more about the issue at:

So.. who wants Last.FM to participate? I sure do. "
Please join me in asking last.fm to participate:
